The Way of St. James

Joan Fiol Boada

This guide to the Camino de Santiago includes the routes known to pilgrims as the French trail, from Roncesvalles, and the Aragonese trail, from Somport. It also describes the four stages from Santiago to Cape Finisterre and that of Saint Jean Pied de Port. The book starts off with a very well-documented introduction, with different chapters discussing the history of the pilgrimage, the modern-day trails, the hostels, equipment, physical training and a range of useful advice on taking the trail. A total of 40 stages are described in detail, each of them including two digital maps, a chart showing the differences in height, a summary of the stage, distances, the facilities available in each town or village, an outline of cultural aspects, a description of the route, information offices and a list of hostels and other accommodation together with their features. In addition, the website www.gronze.com includes a page with updates.
